Hi My name is Liya ((郑丽雅)
I am an Interaction Designer. I use design insights to help businesses find new opportunities based on good ethical user research and design practices. Currently, I work at Liquidnet as an Interaction Designer. Lately, I’ve been pondering about how we can better:
- Design products and services for a global audience.
- Design services that encapsulates every touchpoint of a user experience.
- Strategically compel businesses to be get a design to fruition.
- Use my design experience to help businesses become agents rather than problems of environmental sustainability.
- Care for the 0ther 90%.
Outside of work, I write articles on the topic of Experience Design, see some of them at Apogee HK. I volunteer at IxDA helping out their events planning committee. To keep myself on top of my industry, I am a member of the UPA, AIGA and ACM.
I am a BS and MS graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. At CMU I had the opportunities to study many things not limited to my core study which was Human Computer Interaction. I was able to blend that with studies in Communication Design, Information Systems Management, Art and Entertainment technologies. The broad exposure to these studies helped me realized that wanting to mix my interests in technology, design, art and business strategy all into one career is actually possible.
I enjoy socially relevant art and design work. I have an interest in how theories in Gaming can help with learning. I did my research in gaming from a Social Science perspective, but also worked in the industry for a little while at Rockstar Games. Then I moved into consulting, offering usability and design services to clients in the Greater Pittsburgh area. I took a job as an User Experience Architect with one of my clients – Respironics – because working on their medical products was such a rewarding experience. I eventually helped them develop an understanding of Interaction Design. They embedded this competency into their organization.
In the next few years, I am very interested in becoming a part of the growing design community in China and the rest of Asia, making more contributions than just a standerby.
Liya-
